We have recently been informed of a scam where some unscrupulous people from a call centre in another country are trying to scam people into letting them have remote access to their computer.

The call goes something like – “I’m calling from Computer Care”. You will then be shown this site and told “we are a Microsoft Certified Partner” (which we are and the person calling you is not).

This person will then ask you to allow them to connect to your machine. Once connected they will open up lots of windows and basically tell you that you have viruses / Trojans / spyware / greyware.

They will then tell you that you need to give them money to fix the issues.

This is a SCAM – do not let these people on to your computer and definitely do not give them any personal information or your credit card details.

Computer Care will only speak to its existing customers who have all signed a legally binding contract. We can only apologise if these unscrupulous people try to pass themselves off as a reputable business such as ourselves.

As with any caller you do not know, please make sure you do not disclose any personal information.
