Going deeper into your defences
If a Vulnerability Assessment shows areas of weakness in your external IT security, an External Penetration Test can be carried out to see how deep into your system an attacker could get if they broke in through these holes.
External Penetration Tests can be used to test staff responses
External Penetration Tests are carried out in strict confidence
External Penetration Tests present a greater risk to servers, though all efforts are made to minimise the risk

CAN YOUR SYSTEMS BE COMPROMISED BY OUTSIDERS?
An External Penetration Test puts you in the position of an attacker to see how well your security stands up to an attempt to break in. It will:
• Try to compromise your servers
• Try to gain control of a domain admin account
• Enable you to reinforce your security before it becomes an emergency
WHY DO I NEED AN EXTERNAL PENETRATION TEST?
If a cyber criminal gains access to your systems, they can wreak havoc in your operations and hold you to ransom for a crippling amount of money. If it is possible to break through your external security and get in deep, it’s much better that you discover this from someone who has your business interests at heart.
HOW DOES AN EXTERNAL PENETRATION TEST WORK?
While a Vulnerability Assessment can be compared to a burglar casing a property, looking for ways in, a Penetration Test is the act of actually breaking in. Typically we will be looking for email servers, database servers, file servers, remote access points and other ways in, with the goal of gaining access to an administrator account. Prior to the test we will agree a schedule and rules of engagement to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum, and all our findings will be presented to you in a confidential report, protected by a non-disclosure agreement and backed up with an on-site debrief.
